CCJD Begins New Project with MAGI

plessislaer support centreIn January 2014 CCJD began a one-year project with MAGI, The Multi-Agency Grants Initiative. Four advice offices, Plessislaer (pictured right), Estcourt, Osizweni and Madadeni, will give workshops to three groups: those affected by HIV/AIDS, immigrants and refugees, and the gay and lesbian community. The paralegals will hear their concerns and attend to cases to help clients obtain IDs and grants, tackle domestic violence, and to access health services. The offices will also link these MAGI logogroups to local councillors so that they can make their voices heard at the time of the national election and have their needs incorporated into municipal budgets and planning.

During 2014, the project was extended to run until May 2015.
